In Tension is an online exhibition produced in collaboration with 16 neurodivergent artists from Neuk Collective.
Fife Contemporary are delighted to partner with Neuk Collective for In Tension, an online exhibition presenting recent work from members of the collective.
In Tension is an online exhibition produced in collaboration with 16 neurodivergent artists from Neuk Collective. Encapsulating the divide felt by many neurodivergent artists between multiple contradicting factors, the exhibition explores the balance between external pressures and the need to find space where a creative, neurodivergent brain can make work and flourish.
These can be pressures and tensions felt by most people – artist or not; neurodivergent or not. So it is hoped that anyone visiting this online exhibition will find artists work that they can understand, feel and relate to.
In Tension was curated to a theme discussed and developed by Neuk artists, including Helen Boden, Eleanor Buffam, Gaelle Chassery, Vix Fowler, Jane Francis, Louise K Fraser, Beth Hamilton, Tzipporah Johnston, Libby Lilburn, Lar MacGregor, Kathleen McVey, Aitor Moncho Tudanca, Jeni Reid, Victoria Ross, Rachel Stanley and Ailsa Turner-Gibb.
Neuk Collective is a community of and for neurodivergent artists. Their work focuses on advocating for neurodivergent people in the arts, with fundraising and administrative support provided by their parent social enterprise, Door in the Wall Arts Access CIC.
Neuk Collective began with in 2021 the creation and launch of the Neuk Manifesto – a document outlining the various social, administrative and structural barriers faced by neurodivergent artists as they navigate their careers, and how the art world could be adjusted to mitigate these challenges and become more inclusive.
