We’re offering sets of 2 publications which look at the human body in different ways.

In Our Identity is our Discomfort, artist Michael Esson explores Scottish rituals and customs through the lens of anatomy; Bodyscapes looks directly at early anatomical drawings from the University of St Andrews Library.

  Work created by the artist while on a sabbatical year in his native Scotland from the City Art Institute in Sydney, Australia.  Sculpture and large scale drawings inspired by human anatomy, 1990.

• Bodyscapes – Images of Human Anatomy (usual retail price £4)
  To accompany an exhibition of early anatomical drawings selected from books held by the University of St Andrews Collections, 1995. Researched by University of St Andrews Museum & Gallery Studies student Jennifer Kinnear, the text is written by Martin Kemp. The exhibition coincided with St Andrews being the venue for the British Society for the History of Medicine’s annual conference in 1995.
