Fife Contemporary Art & Craft has been beavering away, organising another short series of tantalising contemporary craft workshops. Like the previous series that ran during February and March this year, these are aimed at giving adults a taste of a specific activity, and could lead to a more sustained enjoyment of a particular craft in future. These will also be held in The Vic (1 St Mary’s Place, St Andrews), with each session running from 10am – 12 noon.
For your delectation this Spring is jewellery making with Roisin Connolly on Sat 19 May 2012 and origami book making with Susie Wilson on Sat 16 June 2012.
Roisin is an emerging talent in the jewellery industry. Graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone, she now runs her own business where she works with precious metals and traditional techniques including etching. Using wood and a variety of recycled materials Roisin will demonstrate how to create a fun and colourful addition to any jewellery box. Discover how to use traditional jewellery making techniques to create your very own recycled brooch, necklace or earrings.
Susie Wilson has a BA (Hons) and a postgraduate qualification in drawing and printmaking. She won two scholarships while at college to Athens School of Fine Art and to Seville School of Fine Art to study printmaking. Susie has taught printmaking and making artists’ books at Edinburgh College of Art for ten years. Susie will demonstrate exciting ways of folding paper and creating beautiful book structures. Using found and re-cycled papers the class will learn how to use origami folds to turn a simple piece of paper into a sculptural book.
All materials are included for each class and delicious refreshments will also be provided (wonderful scones!), just to keep energy levels up! To book these workshops, please go to http://roisinconnolly.eventbrite.co.uk and http://susiewilson.eventbrite.co.uk. Each session costs £15 (fully inclusive) and if spaces are left, they can also be paid for on the day itself.
Further fabulous workshops will be taking place from September onwards. If you’d like to receive details of these (and also other treat activities), please get in touch with FCA&C – jane.gowans@fcac.co.uk.
