Shelters

* Kirkcaldy Galleries are closed on Monday 2 May 2016 due to the public holiday *

A major FCA&C exhibition highlighting the human need and drive to find and make shelter presented as part of Scotland’s Festival of Architecture 2016. Curated by Bobby Niven of The Bothy Project this will introduce the history of Lloyd Kahn’s iconic Californian based Shelter Publications for the first time in the UK through an immersive photographic installation.  The current Scottish dimension to the international shelter/cabins/off-grid movement will be explored through the stories around a range of Scottish self-build initiatives. Fife College students will help create a shelter in which visitors can relax and learn more about the exhibition’s themes.
