HagChat 1 – The Two Kates

In March 2025 Fife Contemporary will open Hag. Knowledge, Power & Alchemy through Craft at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries. We are excited to take you behind the scenes with our first online HagChat event introducing the exhibition themes and exploring the work of the 13 women artists involved.
In this conversation between Hag. curator Kate Pickering and Fife Contemporary director, Kate Grenyer, the two Kates will discuss the ideas, interactions and conversations that led to the development of this upcoming exhibition. Current discussions about ‘hag’ culture will be intersected with reflections on witchcraft and witch persecutions and how these continue to impact women’s lives today.
Most importantly, we will introduce the work of the artists who have been invited to be part of this exhibition, and explore the value and insights gained through craft practices of these 13 exceptional Scottish women.
