I am so pleased that last month we have been able to launch our newly developed and redesigned website. I hope you enjoy exploring this new site; you are welcome to click around and explore. I’d also like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the biggest changes and updates to the site.
Environment
We have always been proud of our environmental record, our support and encouragement of artists and our partners to develop sustainable practices, and our own efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our work. On this new site we have combined all our experiences and knowledge of the environment, carbon and climate in our Environment Pages – linked directly from our homepage and throughout the site.
I am pleased we will be developing this knowledge and ideas in the coming year when, in 2026, Fife Contemporary will be celebrating our 20-year anniversary.
Accessibility
We are proud to have improved the accessibility of our new site so that it is in line with WCAG 2.2 AA standards. But on top of this we are helping share and extend knowledge of the additional support available. Our Accessibility page includes links to resources that make the online world and our wider programme more accessible to more people.
Transparency
We have now published and made accessible the policies we use to hold ourselves to account and to make sure our work is open and transparent. You can find these on our Policies page.
Core Projects
I am particularly proud of the incredible impact many parts of our public and artist programmes have that are not often the centre of attention. Some of these are core projects that happen year on year, and which have a continued positive impact on both artists and communities. Other collaborative projects and residencies are created in partnership and have left a valuable and lasting impact on the project participants and our collaborators. Our new Projects section is an opportunity to look behind the scenes of our more community-focused activities.
Firm Favourites
As well as these new additions to our site, many of the features and places on our old site continue to be available – but with a more streamlined, contemporary and sustainable design. Our previous website divided our site into Artists’ Space and Programme sections, and we have taken away this artificial divide on the new site. Artists and makers are core to everything we do, and so resources of interest to artists are embedded across our site. They can be found in the Environment section which includes our Artists’ Environmental Resource, current opportunities can be found in our Artist Opportunities page which also includes a link to our latest Newsflash for external opportunities. Our updated Directory, when complete, will not just list Resources and Places that support artists work, it will be a site where artists from across Fife and across our Programme are listed, featured, and celebrated.
Our completed programme for all audiences, from the general public to experienced creatives, can be found in our What’s On section which also houses an extensive archive of past exhibitions and events.
Meanwhile, to keep up to date with latest news, both our Artists’ Newsflash and What’s On Newsletters remain live and accessible. Our Online Exhibitions now have their own microsite, and we will continue to keep you updated through our Blog.
Coming Soon!
This website redesign has been an extensive and complex project, and some areas remain in development following going live. Information about some key projects and collaborations will be added to the Projects pages in the coming months. In addition, more details from our archive will be added to our Environment, Summer School and Craft Pod pages over the coming year. The next focus of our activity on our site will be to expand our new Artist Directory to become a valuable resource for fellow artists and the public adding to our already extensive resources supporting artists’ work in Fife and beyond.
