Run by David Sim, Susie Lacome and Rachel Sim.  All three are graduates of Edinburgh College of Art (though different eras….) where we specialised in illustration/animation. David followed this with a postgraduate MA at the Royal College of Art in London where Rachel is currently a student.

While we continue to work as book illustrators, we are also particularly interested in print-making and originally opened the Crail Gallery in 2001 to showcase our work.

We specialise in hand-made, limited edition, linocut and silkcreen printing – you can see us hard at work in the studio/workshop at the rear of the gallery. Sometimes we work across a number of mediums – producing unique paintings and collages which combine print with ink and paint.

Though we each have our own style of working, we are all inspired by our surroundings here beside the sea. The character and charm of the local fishing villages with their harbour scenes combined with the distinctive architecture of the East Neuk – these are often themes which feed into our pictures. The coastal footpaths, seabirds on the shoreline, gardens – our work often derives from places and things which we enjoy.
