Louise Fraser - New Work

Louise Fraser worked with Kirkcaldy Museum & Art Gallery. She was interested in the physicality of the museum space, the contrast between the upstairs Art Gallery and downstairs Museum Collection. Her installation creates a three dimensional form, with pencil drawings of chairs from around the gallery, including the "parrot coal" chair which inspired her, set behind sculpted picture frames that mimic the carved coal pieces.

On the right is a gallery of the new work she created in response to the museum collections.

She has also produced an animation based on a floorcloth banner made by workers at the Nairn linoleum factory to celebrate a wedding. A set of three soundtracks added to the same animation allow us to interpret it in different ways.
