Andrea Sayers - New Work

Andrea Sayers worked with Dunfermline Museum. She focused on the tools and products of the town’s linen trade and made a visit to a recently closed mill. Through taking carefully lit photographs with a medium format camera (which uses large negatives to give sharp detail when pictures are enlarged) she has transformed humble objects into beautiful ones. Her images have been made into transparencies which are lit from behind to emphasise their glowing qualities. The lightboxes that hold them recall the simple storage cupboards in the museum and labels hint at the poignant stories which may be behind the objects.

On the right is a gallery of the new work she created in response to the museum collections.
