The Niel Gow Festival Society invites expressions of interest from sculptors for the creation of a life-size sculpture, possibly in bronze, of the renowned 18th Century Perthshire fiddler Niel Gow.
Tenders are invited for the following work:
Job: Creation of life-size bronze sculpture of fiddler Niel Gow in Dunkeld
Timescale: Completion by summer 2020
Fee: By agreement. Artists are invited to tender an estimate of costs. (Total budget for project not to exceed £30K.)
Application: Please submit by email a note of interest with your specialist areas of work and media, which includes at least 3 images of your work (or a web link to such images). Applications to be received no later than Monday 5th March 2018
Selection: A decision regarding the sculpture proposal will be made by the committee of The Niel Gow Festival Society and the Dunkeld & Birnam community opinion (solicited during the Niel Gow Festival in March 2018). Artist selection will be based on the outcome of an informal interview between the artist and the Niel Gow Festival Society committee.
The successful applicant is to create a life-size sculpture, possibly in bronze, of the renowned 18th Century Perthshire musician Niel Gow. An interactive work is envisaged, rather than a figure on a pedestal – possibly a figure seated on a bench. The finished work will be installed at a location yet to be decided in Dunkeld, Perthshire.
