Ceramicists – Sell Your Work at York Art Gallery’s New Shop

The Centre of Ceramic Art (CoCA) shop aims to offer a range of work by artists working with clay. It will offer ranges of high-end ceramics, affordable pieces and anything in between.

The CoCA shop is set to open in the summer of 2015 as part of a major £8 million development project of York Art Gallery. The aim of The Centre of Ceramic Art is to encourage the understanding and enjoyment of the large collection of British studio ceramics in the York Art Gallery. As part of the development a new shop is being created at the first floor entrance to CoCA which offers the opportunity to sell good quality ceramics to visitors.

The CoCA shop is now inviting artists and ceramicists working in clay to submit work to be selected for the shop. The work submitted may, but does not have to have a connection to the exhibition programme or the collections of the York Art Gallery. The selection of artists will be made by the Gallery’s management team which includes curatorial, learning, front of house and retail staff.

There will be slots for up to four artists at a time to exhibit work and each slot will last three months in length. Artists can apply as often as they wish and are not limited to one display. Work will be taken on a sale or return agreement and York Art Gallery will take 50% commission after VAT on all a sales.

Applications to this programme will be accepted on a rolling basis. Only successful applicants will be contacted.
