Artists’ Benevolent Fund

The Artists’ Benevolent Fund has been supporting artists for over 200 years.  It continues this work today and has responded to changes in the art world and society at large.  The aim now is to provide support to enable artists to develop or sustain their professional careers.  ABF include artists of all kinds in our remit, whether they work in traditional or new media.
ABF understand that many talented artists face difficulty in sustaining a fully professional career. You may need funds to support you to carry on your work or take an opportunity to exhibit, publish a catalogue or take on a commission.  It is in such cases as these that The Artists’ Benevolent Fund can offer help once real professional need has been established.
Artists’ Benevolent Fund has developed a grant scheme to assist artists in developing their careers. These grants are intended to support activity which will strengthen their ability to operate as a professional artist and enable them to make a significant development in their practice / career. Competition for these small grants is likely to be significant and artists are urged to provide information as to what the grant will help them achieve; this should be linked to their career and how it will help them sustain their practice as a professional artist.
