Gail Turpin

I had grown accustomed to my big toes peeking through the front of my slippers and my jeans were bound for the charity shop. Then came lockdown and time to do some mending, which I hadn’t done for years. I learnt at my Grannie’s knee. She was a furrier and had me sewing, knitting, darning and making dolls clothes from the age of 4.

I have a case of my Mum’s embroidery thread which I delved into. I had no plan other than to mend the holes and was surprised to find that the darn in the slippers resembled the corona virus!
