I decided to repair my Mum’s favourite cardigan. Sadly, she died last August, and in the weeks after her death, wearing her cardy brought me great comfort. (I still have a jumper of my Dad’s, he died 26 years ago!)
First I knitted the patches in left over sock wool, and blanket stitched them in place. I then applied a kind of Japanese Boro stitching over the top. It was slow, absorbing and strangely satisfying to do… and now, the cardigan will continue to let me feel close to my Mum.
