Introducing Cerys Williams

Cerys Williams is a young jewellery designer maker, based in Central Fife. Cerys was taught craft skills by a friend which led her to take her art and design higher at school. This is when she began to explore her ability in jewellery design. Post school Cerys took a college course in 3D Animation which developed her design skills, but after this course she realised that she wanted to work on creating a jewellery range to sell.

In 2022 Cerys was awarded a Creative Scotland Youth Arts Bursary with Fife Contemporary after responding to a competitive open call. Her ambition with the bursary was to develop her skills as jeweller, purchase the equipment she needed to turn her passion for jewellery into a business. Cerys was chosen for the bursary because she had natural creative talent and showcased ambition.

Cerys worked with the team at Fife Contemporary to develop a custom programme of activity that would see her learn new techniques, use precious materials, visit places of inspiration and gain relevant and important business skills.

This exhibition celebrates the development supported by the bursary but starts with acknowledging her natural talent and drive to the launch her new jewellery business “Designed by Cerys”
