The Big Craft Give-Away

Be Inspired by Craft in the Big Craft Give-Away – Saturday 21 September 2013:

People across Scotland are invited to take part in the second Big Craft Give-Away on Saturday 21 September 2013 when thousands of craft objects will be given away to inspire people to go and see craft.

The objects are being created at 11 venues across the country by leading craft artists working with local communities and reflect in some way the place where they were made. People can receive a craft object through visiting one of the venues on the Big Craft Give-Away day, by applying online at www.bigcraftgiveaway.org to have one posted to them, or they may find one left at random in a wild release.

On the Big Craft Give-Away day there will also be the opportunity to take part in drop in making sessions with the craft artists at venues in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Hawick, Dunfermline, Inverness, West Kilbride and Kilmarnock.

The range of craft objects being created and given away reflect the rich diversity of Scotland from the industrial heritage of lace, damask cotton, tweeds and knitwear to natural Scotland and contemporary every day life.

In Dunfermline textile artist Jeanette Sendler has worked with groups to decorate vintage napkins with patterns from the point paper designs used in Dunfermline’s linen industry in the 19th century which will be displayed at the new Dunfermline Museum & Galleries when it opens in 2016.

Take part by going to the Carnegie Library, 1 Abbot Street, Dunfermline, Fife KY12 7NL

Objects will be given away from 1-4pm
