Re-creation: artists and the animal kingdom

Organised by Fife Contemporary Art & Craft, this contemporary visual art exhibition ‘Re-creation’ is a group show where artists explore the theme of natural history using a wide range of media. Artists include Uli Westphal (digital/ installation), Carole Drake (painting), Ashley Nieuwenhuizen (sculpture/ printmaking), Gemma Coyle (sculpture), Nora Fok (jewellery/ sculpture), Claire Moynihan (embroidery).

So you think you know the animal kingdom? Have your eyes opened and your ideas challenged by this thought provoking twist to a familiar subject.

A series of free activities will run during the exhibition:

Sat 17 January, 2pm – informal gallery tour with two of the artists, Ashley Nieuwenhuizen & Uli Westphal, and the curator

Sun 1 February, 2pm – talk by Dr Stephanie Bunn on animals and cave art

Sun 15 February, 11am-3pm – Family Fun Day; drop in any time for face painting or to make your own animal mask or puppet

Sun 1 March, 2pm – talk by Dr Jeremy Howard of St Andrews University on ‘The Artistic Language of Elephants’
