Materialise 4 Now Launched

From biodegradable burial wear to scientific jewellery, new makers show innovative and exciting work.

Our 4th annual New Makers’ online exhibition in now live. Join us in exploring a selection of makers from the 2020 graduating year. Read about what they have been up to over the last year, where their practice has been taking them and how the ongoing pandemic has affected their creativity.

Scotland nurtures innovation and creativity and even during a pandemic new graduates have proven this by showing us refreshing ideas that help us consider new ways of seeing and living in this chaotic world.

Francesca Rea, a graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Dundee, has designed biodegradable embroidered textiles using plant based fabric and dyes intended for burial wear and states, “This closed-loop life cycle is a reminder of our place in the environment, one that we must look after for the next generations on our planet.’’

Details and images from the other participating artists can be found on our online exhibition microsite.
