Wezi Mhura

Biography

Wezi Mhura is a freelance producer, who has initiated and developed projects with widely diverse groups of artists and genres, including dance, street theatre, circus, physical theatre, digital and music performances. Highlighted achievements include a London 2012 Cultural Olympiad Commission, presenting productions as part of the Made in Scotland and British Council showcase and producing two critically acclaimed events in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Culture programme.

As creative producer of AfriFest, Wezi fundraised, produced, programmed and project managed AfriFest, Scotland’s first festival commemoration of African Arts and Culture, and a celebratory showcase of visual, performing arts and culture of the Scottish Pan-African community.

Project

Black Lives Matter mural trail is a powerful new series of artworks, including paintings, video, photography and digital – by Scottish Black and Asian artists in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. – They are currently popping up in towns and cities across Scotland with approx 50 individual artworks across 30 locations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Dundee and Inverness, with offers of new sites including St Andrews.
