Tim Fitzpatrick

Tim Fitzpatrick is an installation artist based in North East Fife and a founder member of the Fife based arts project The Red Field. Over the course of his professional life Tim has designed and produced a wide range of installation and community arts projects throughout Scotland. Working in partnership with organisations such as Historic Scotland and Unesco or with smaller community groups and arts organisations, Tim has created and sited new work in a wide diversity of public spaces and buildings. Collaboration with fellow artists and community groups has been key to the success of all of Tim’s projects and with his background in light, sound and film, the opportunity to work with performance artists such as Alex Rigg and Florencia Garcia Chafuen, poet Ken Cockburn and, most recently,  composers Michael Nyman and Goldie, has been a source of much inspiration and often a catalyst to new ideas.

Tim Fitzpatrick’s current collaboration with astronomer Anne-Marie Weijmans of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews has developed into an ongoing series of art installations under the title of ‘Code for Everything’. This work takes its inspiration from the role of spectroscopy in astronomy and has recently led to Tim’s role as artist in residence for the international astronomical survey the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.
