We Make Pots is the partnership business of Glasgow School of Art Graduates Clare and Simon Dawdry, established in 2004. They specialise in functional handmade pottery, working from studios in Dumfries and Galloway and South Ayrshire, and sell to shops all over the UK. The ranges of work produced by We Make Pots are all designed and made by Simon and Clare.
Simon graduated from the GSA in 1999, with a BA (Hons) in Product Design.
"The focus of my ceramics is function. With a background as a product designer, I enjoy objects with purpose, and am always looking for innovative ways to explore the use of everyday objects. Clay is a very direct medium, and lends itself perfectly to the rapid development of ideas. I am passionate about producing objects with character, and by giving functional objects personality. The intention is to design in this personality before the production process begins, but allow for each objects' individuality to grow during the making process."
