Derek Hood

Derek Hood has a reputation as one of Britain’s leading design-based fine bookbinders.

Years of experience in fine bookbinding have led him to attain the  highest level of craftsmanship. With a love of iconic fiction and classic cult titles, he produces unique and highly sought after books for the 21st Century collector. His books are bound by hand in his bindery using a creative combination of traditional techniques and modern design. A well-sourced selection of fine leather and paper is used to preserve, protect and compliment the contents of each book. Book edges are gilded using a variety of pure metals including gold, platinum and palladium leaf.

His award winning bookbindings have been featured in Design Week, The Telegraph magazine, The Times and The Spectator. He has exhibited in the V&A Museum, The House of Lords, The British Library and the Grolier Club in New York. His books are held in public and private collections throughout the world.
