Daniel Svahn

Daniel Svahn is a Stockholm-based multidisciplinary designer and artist working broadly within the fields of product, furniture, and interior design. Daniel recently completed his Masters in Spatial Design, from the Konstfack – University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. During these studies he has focused on sustainable development, circular furniture and interior systems and solutions and he now carries these themes into his practice.

Daniel makes functional objects that are characterful and fresh but made entirely from ‘old’ materials that would otherwise be destined for landfill. In this way, with relatively simple tweaks and means, Daniel aims to add new value to waste. The piece of furniture selected for this exhibition is taken from a body of work titled A New Paradigm where Daniel is both redefining and refining a new way of thinking about interior design. His furniture is an example of ingenious and thoughtful up-cycling – designed in such a way as to maximise the onward life of each piece.
