Claire Corstorphine

Claire Corstorphine Luxury Silk Accessories is an emerging Scottish textile label, based in Fife, that specialises in contemporary hand sewn silk scarves.  Having graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee in 2012, Claire Corstorphine specialises in digitally printed textiles, creating quirky designs using graphic collage from her own photography and found vintage imagery, combined with playful linear illustration.

Claire’s debut collection ‘Molluscs Microbes and Mutants’ takes inspiration from the theories of evolution and explores imagery inspired by the progression of natural selection towards modern day artificial creation. Feminine florals and butterflies that are contrasted with darker images of insects and skeletons are set against photographic and painterly textures, creating a curious and distinct aesthetic.

Designed and printed in Scotland, all garments are sewn by hand to achieve a traditional rolled hem.  Claire Corstorphine Luxury Silk Accessories aims to rejuvenate the traditional image of the silk scarf with an injection of colour and playfulness, giving a modern twist to the classic luxury accessory.
