As soon as we saw the photographs taken by the St Andrews and Kirkcaldy youth groups with the support of professional photographer, Jannica Honey, we knew they were special. In fact, it seemed quite unbelievable that the 2 groups had only had 4 sessions each with Jannica, and that that had been enough time for them to create such strong images.
As LGBT+ History Month 2019 celebrations kicked off on 1 February, we had the now framed photos displayed beside our Fife Contemporary office in St Andrews Town Hall, and also at Kangus Cafe in Kirkcaldy. A set of the prints have also spent an evening in Edinburgh at an event organised by David Mundell, Scottish Secretary, and it is hoped they’ll be seen in a couple of Fife secondary schools shortly. Their last public outing will be at Kirkcaldy Galleries during Fife Pride this summer.
We hope interested members of the public have seen them (or will see them) ‘in the flesh’, but if not, we’re delighted to report that there has been great interest in the press in these portraits, including the selection of links below:
Our thanks to everyone who took part in this most worthwhile project.
