Artist Frances Priest spent some of the latter part of 2010 as one of three artists employed by FCA&C to work with various groups in Fife and create some kind of alternative guide to the Fife Coastal Path. Frances and her group, based in Buckhaven, ended up going on a ceramic voyage of discovery to find out how to make ceramic carpet bowls – something the area had been famous for many decades earlier.
Fast forward to early summer 2011 and Frances has now developed her ‘bool’ making skills further and will be showing sets of them in a group exhibition in Galerie Handwerk, Germany called ‘Ein Tag am Strand’ – A Day at the Beach. Celebrating summers spent at the beach, the exhibition also features work by Helen Beard, David Bielander, Marian Bijlenga, Helen Britton, Annemie De Corte Katrin Eisenblatter & Astrid Triska, Hans Fisher, Neville French, Anne-Marie Gaspar, Sebastian Andreas Heger, Emmanuel Heringer, Mirjam Hiller, Charlotte Houman, Francoise Joris, Kilary Judd, Beppe Kessler, Susanne Klemm, Korbwerk Heringsdorf, Natalie Luder, Barbara, Ludin, Sia Mai, Nicki Marquardt, Birgit Morgentern, Olivia Oberlin, Danilo Prufer, Cornelius Reer, Dorothea Rees-Heim, Caludi Richter, Lucy Sarneel, Dik Scheepers, Helena Schepens, Dorit Schubert, Freia Schulze, Michael Sindhauser, Anna Sykora, Kristallglasmanufaktur Theresienthal, Felieke van der Leest, Leinenweberei Viebock, Gerry Wedd. It’s on from 22 June – 23 July 2011.
