New exhibition of Papua New Guinea work opens tomorrow

We’ve more or less finished installing an exhibition of contemporary work from Papua New Guinea – ‘Double Visions – Contemporary Art from Papua New Guinea – in Kirkcaldy Museum & Art Gallery, and, without sounding too biased, would certainly encourage people to trot along for a look.

This is truly a rare chance to see contemporary artwork from the South Pacific area in Scotland and what interesting work it is too. On display are paintings, sculptures and textiles, plus a couple of DVDs which give additional background. The exhibition opens tomorrow morning and runs until 20 June in Kirkcaldy before a slightly abbreviated version moves to the Gateway Galleries in St Andrews (3 July – 14 August). Kirkcaldy is open Mon-Sat 10-5 and Sun 2-5 and is free, plus they have an excellent cafe where you can sup soup surrounded by a selection of studio pottery (Wemyss ware etc) from the area. More info on the show can be found on our website (http://www.fcac.co.uk).
