Turn the Corner : Art in Unexpected Places

17 - 23 March 2010, non-gallery venues along South Street, St Andrews.

St Andrews residents are in for a few surprises during the Stanza festival this year. Art exhibition 'Turn the Corner: Art in Unexpected Places' is on show from the 17 - 23 March 2010 in a series of non-gallery venues along South Street, St Andrews. Artists Fanny Lam Christie, Tim Fitzpatrick, Pat Law featuring Colin Andrews, Susie Leiper, Gayle Nelson & Fiona McDonald, Liz Skulina and Cherie Sullivan participate.

'Turn the Corner' has been produced by a team of post-graduate students on St Andrews University's Museum and Gallery Studies programme in association with Fife Contemporary Art & Craft and StAnza Poetry Festival 2010.

An informative guide will be available from participating venues around the town including The Byre Theatre, St Andrews Town Hall in Queen's Gardens, and Millers Tale II in South Street. Venues in St Andrews University invite the public into spaces they might not usually see - St John's Garden, the Old Class Library at St John's, and St Mary's Quad.

'Turn the Corner' has taken an innovative approach that allows visitors to look at familiar spaces in new ways and enhances the exploration of the relationship between art and poetry. The artists have chosen poetry and locations that inspire them and their artworks.

How has this event transformed the spaces within historic St Andrews? Turn the Corner and see!
